American Made Brand Mini Quilt Challenge

Last summer I decided to enter the American Made Brand Tiny Quilt Challenge.  They were looking for tiny quilts- less than 15" square and the top 40 entries would hang in a special exhibit at Road to California 2016.

Here is my entry, "Exploding Star"- it is 14" square.  I cut tiny diamonds from a charm pack of American Made Brand Solids and then used Mistyfuse to attach them too the black background.  Then I quilted the whole thing using a spiral pattern with black thread, to add to the illusion that the star was exploding.

Then, I heard in the fall that my quilt was chosen to be a part of their exhibit at Road to California- I was so excited!  Road to California was last weekend and I spent half the weekend on Instagram looking for pictures of the exhibits but there didn't seem to be a large number of people instagramming the quilt show.  Luckily, Clothworks posted pictures yesterday of the show on their blog.

Can you see my quilt in the top row center of that picture?  There are better pictures of all the quilts in the exhibit here.  It is awesome to see all the quilts in the show- go and check out all the tiny quilts!

2016 Quilty Resolutions

How did it get to be January 26th???  I feel like I lost several months of the year!  Unfortunately I have neglected my blog since October of last year.  However, it is now a new year and I am trying to get back into the swing of things.

But first, let's review my accomplishments from last year and my goals for 2016:

Accomplishments in 2015:
1. I entered 11 quilts into shows (sometimes the same quilt was entered into several shows)
2. I got 3 quilts accepted into shows! (1 at Road to California 2016 and 2 will be at Quiltcon 2016)
3. I opened my Etsy store and sold 4 items, including 1 quilt!
4. I released 2 patterns on Craftsy (the free pattern was briefly in the top 10 patterns!)
5. I completed 13 quilts!  This is a record in the 10 years that I have been quilting :)

Goals for 2016:
1. Go see my two quilts hanging at Quiltcon (!) in Pasadena and enjoy the workshops and lectures I am attending with my sister
2. Enter quilts in shows and not worry about rejections
3. Learn how to write patterns more professionally and apply it to new patterns
4. Sell some patterns!
5. Grow my Etsy store
6. Grow my blog following
7. Blog more!
8. Quilt!!!

I have so much to share... quilts and Christmas presents that I made, quilts in shows, upcoming Quiltalongs... hang in there because it is going to be an awesome year!
